Hi, I'm David.

Towpath Studio is a one-person web design and hosting studio in Surrey. I build websites that are clear and quick, host them on my own UK servers, and stick around to look after them. When something needs changing, you talk to me, the person who built it.

Why "Towpath"?

A towpath is the path that runs alongside a canal, the steady, unhurried route that quietly connects one place to the next. Surrey is full of them, from the River Wey Navigation to the Basingstoke Canal. One of the sites I've built is for a pub that sits right on the water at New Haw Lock.

It's how I like to work: no fuss, no rush, just a well-made path from where you are to where you want to be. Dependable, and built to be walked for years.

Good local businesses deserve a proper website.

Too many good local businesses are let down online, a half-finished Facebook page, a site that's slow on a phone, or nothing at all. Meanwhile the agencies charge thousands and then hand you off to a faceless host.

I started Towpath Studio to do it differently: one person who designs your site, builds it properly, hosts it here in the UK, and is still there when you need a change next year. Fair prices, no jargon, no being passed around.

The things I won't budge on.

Honest pricing

You get a fixed quote before I start. No hourly drip, no surprise invoices, no upsell you didn't ask for.

Fast by default

I build lean sites that load quickly and read well. Speed isn't an upgrade, it's how a site should be.

I host it myself

Your site lives on my own UK servers, kept secure and backed up. One person to call, not a faceless host overseas.

A real person

When you get in touch, you reach me, the person who knows your site, not a ticket queue and a canned reply.

Local, and glad to be.

I work with small businesses of every kind, from pubs and cafés to tradespeople, shops and consultants, anywhere in the UK. And if you're nearby and would rather talk it through in person, I'm happy to.
